Before Florida had five water management districts, flooding was a major and ongoing threat 🌧️🌊 After devastating floods in the mid-1900s, the Central and Southern Florida Flood Control Project was created and led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 🏗️🇺🇸 to protect communities, farms, and infrastructure. To control rising waters, crews built an extensive network of levees, dams, canals, spillways, and control structures 🚧💦. These projects became the backbone of Florida’s flood protection
