The only difference between USB 3 Gen 1 and Gen 2 is the speed (5 Gbps vs. 10 Gbps). Gen 2 doesn't support additional device types. Display output via USB-C requires¹ DisplayPort alternate mode or Thunderbolt support (or the uncommon HDMI alternate mode), none of which are available on the Flex 5.

Sep 14, 2021 · I have a similar Lenovo laptop in the Ideapad series but without the touchscreen and a 4600U CPU. So here is my experience with it running Kernel 5.14.2. Everything works great except for the fingerprint reader and laptop suspend/deep sleep. Fingerprint reader support is almost non-existent for laptops in Linux.

Jan 10, 2022 · Also a Lenovo Flex 5 user recently experiencing the same problem. Here's what I tried: Go to Lenovo Vantage, battery, and disable "flip to boot" If you do this, then this works if you select "shut down", and then close the lid. The laptop stays off after you close the lid.
