President Trump has removed former U.S. Rep. Billy Long as IRS commissioner less than two months after his confirmation.

Billy Long was a ridiculous character to put in the role of IRS commissioner, but despite his lack of qualifications, he appears to have put up a fight when it came to defending taxpayers' private data from immigration enforcement officials.

It was not immediately clear why Long was dismissed. His quick exit makes him the shortest-tenured IRS commissioner confirmed by the Senate since 1862.
