Pope Francis, in critical condition battling double pneumonia, had a “tranquil” night and rested following a respiratory crisis and blood transfusions, the Vatican said on Sunday. The pope was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on February 14 after experiencing difficulty breathing for several days and subsequently had pneumonia diagnosed in both lungs.

In his Angelus message delivered from Rome's Gemelli hospital, Pope Francis expressed gratitude to medical staff and called for prayers for Ukraine on the eve of the war's third anniversary.

The update comes after the Pope was reported to be in critical condition as he battles double pneumonia at the Gemelli hospital in Rome.
