A winter storm moved across the East Tennessee on Wednesday, leaving snow across the region. While it’s still snowing in some areas including parts of Knox, Cocke and Blount Counties, the National Weather Service has some preliminary totals for different cities as of Wednesday night.

Ahead of the snow, a winter weather advisory is in place for much of East Tennessee from 2 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Before you hit the road, remove all snow and ice from your windows, roof and lights. The normal following distance when driving is 3-4 seconds. Officials advise you to increase that to 5-6 seconds. This gives you more time to brake in case you hit a slick spot.

Roadways are snow and ice-covered across the county, according to the Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency. The White Pine Fire Department said a majority of roadways throughout the community are snow and ice-covered.

Patches of ice and snow have been reported on roads across East Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay map shows ice and snow patches on various roads in the following counties: This includes I-40 in Cumberland County near Peavine Road,
