Thousands of people had been warned to evacuate areas in and around burn scars from the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. A mudslide covered Mulholland Drive.

The heaviest rain slammed into the region Thursday night into early Friday morning, triggering flash floods and mudslides across Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties, as well as the Inland Empire. Friday will have scattered showers as the rain moves out of the area, leaving residents to clean up after the storm.

The western and central parts of the state, including Worcester, are expected to get 4 to 6 inches of snow accumulation from this weekend's storm. Areas south and east of Interstate 495 should get closer to 2 to 4 inches of snow, according to the latest NWS forecast.
