Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving told reporters during All-Star Weekend that he wants to play for Australia at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Irving was born in Melbourne while his dad was playing for the Bulleen Boomers of the now-defunct South East Australian Basketball League,

Shortly after last weekend’s All-Star Game in San Francisco, the Mavericks guard was asked if he would consider representing Australia at the 2028 Olympic Games. Based on his answer, Irving seems optimistic about suiting up for the Boomers in the future.

The Mavericks guard, who won a gold medal with Team USA in 2016, is in the “process” of potentially switching his allegiance.
