Japan's Fuji Media said on Monday its chairman and the head of its TV unit would step down immediately amidst a probe into alleged sexual misconduct by a celebrity TV host.

Fuji TV continues to be in hot water from the sexual assault scandal that’s rocked it as sponsors pull their funding.

After coming under criticism, Fuji Television Network Inc. has apparently revised its plan on investigating the reported sexual misconduct scandal involving TV personality Masahiro Nakai.

Fuji Television held an earlier news conference on Jan. 17 that was roundly criticized. Participation at that news conference was limited to a few media groups, and TV cameras were not allowed.
