New Wales rugby union head coach Steve Tandy believes he will have the talent at his disposal to meet the ambitious target of a return to the world's top five sides.Tandy becomes the first Welshman to coach the national side since 2007 when Wales have slipped to 12th in the world rankings and had lost 17 successive matches before beating Japan last month in the final game of Matt Sherratt's interim reign.

New Wales head coach Steve Tandy has said the team must show ambition to restore national pride after sliding down the world order. Tonmawr-born Tandy, a former Ospreys player and coach, has ended a six-year stay as Scotland defence coach to return home to Wales.

Wales have been without a permanent boss since Warren Gatland left during the Six Nations, which was followed by Cardiff's Matt Sherratt taking over for the rest of that campaign
