KCAL News has issued its first Next Weather Alert as strong and widespread winds are expected to impact much of the Southern California region. Weather officials say winds should pick up late Tuesday morning and continue through the night.

A high surf advisory was released by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA on Tuesday at 3:43 a.m. valid from 4 p.m. until Thursday 4 a.m. The advisory is for Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles.

Weather forecasters expect a quarter- to a half-inch of precipitation Sunday and Monday, likely not enough to affect wildfire burn areas.
