By Deanna Neff HealthDay ReporterTHURSDAY, Jan. 29, 2026 (HealthDay News) — A fast-growing measles outbreak in South Carolina has eclipsed last year’s record-setting Texas surge.

State health officials reported that 89 new measles cases have been confirmed since Jan. 23, bringing the total number of cases to 789.

LSU heads into a matchup with South Carolina as losers of five straight road games. Saturday's matchup is the first of the season between the two teams.

South Carolina and Virginia Tech have mutually agreed to cancel home-and-home football series that was scheduled for the 2034 and 2035 seasons, a university source confirmed to The State on Friday.
