The Iowa State Cyclones lost to the BYU Cougars in Week 9 of the NCAA football season. Here is a recap of all the action.

So Iowa State can take solace that it did, in fact, play much better, cleaner and more productive football Oct. 25 against No. 10 BYU, but, the reality of Big 12 football what it is, that it wasn’t nearly good enough at all.

BYU’s No. 1 running back was injured in the first half of the Cougars’ win over Iowa State. LJ Martin, who has accounted for more than 700 yards this season, left the game against the Cyclones in the first half and did not return.

AMES — Homecoming festivities were spoiled for a second straight year in Ames as Iowa State football dropped its third straight contest and fell to BYU, 41-27, on Oct. 25. The Cyclones had a 24-17 lead at halftime, but the Cougars were resilient and eventually took the lead for good in the fourth quarter.

Iowa State has lost three games in a row just twice since Matt Campbell’s first year in Ames. A 5-game losing streak in the middle of 2022 and a 3-game skid to close out that same year when the Cyclones finished 4-8 overall and 1-8 in the Big 12.
