Thousands of demonstrators flooded Chicago’s Grant Park on Saturday, denouncing President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
No Kings/Hands Off Chicago” protests were held Saturday in downtown Chicago, the suburbs and northwest Indiana. The march and rally attracted more than 100,000 people to Grant Park, one of roughly 2,500 similar demonstrations held across the country and around the world.
After a massive rally in Grant Park, people took to downtown streets to show opposition to efforts including the deportation campaign that's deployed federal agents and troops to the Chicago area.
The festival, which Chicago hosted from 2017 to 2019, will feature immersive game experiences, merchandise and other attractions.
The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners gave its provisional approval to the fest’s host Niantic at Wednesday’s monthly board meeting, with an option to renew in 2027. Dates in 2026 are set for June 5-7. Daily attendance will be capped at 40,000 people.
A series of more than a dozen robberies have targeted victims at multiple Chicago landmarks, including Millennium Park and Grant Park.
