Authorities have evacuated dozens of people from remote islands in southern Japan that have been shaken by over 1,700 tremors in recent weeks.
Following a series of earthquakes off the Tokara Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture, a ferry carrying five evacuees left Akusekijima Island, part of that island chain, on Wednesday morning.
