Multiple towns and cities in Rhode Island went to the polls Tuesday to fill the three open council seats. According to unofficial election results, Democrat Jill Davidson won the majority of votes to fill the Providence City Council Ward 2 seat.

The nonpartisan, conservative league has created 40 political action committees, one for every municipality plus a statewide entity.

Guckian is running as a moderate Republican focused on state issues like the budget and taxes. Aaron Guckian, a hard-to-miss 6'7" Rhode Island Republican stalwart with a memorable singing voice and a political resumé that dates back to the Carcieri administration, is running for governor.

A vote based solely on party is a wasted vote. It does not ensure the best, most qualified person for the job. Rhode Island has lots of Independent and Unaffiliated registered voters. They have no problem voting for the best-qualified candidate.

Davidson, who works for the nonprofit Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, received 95% of the vote against Republican Alex Brito.

The lawsuit comes after Secretary of State Gregg Amore refused to give the administration access to driver's license numbers and Social Security numbers.

Rhode Island is one of at least 14 Democratic-led states being sued by the DOJ for failing to produce personal voter information.
