The Senate has reportedly confirmed Trump nominee Susan Monarez to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Susan Monarez to be President Donald Trump’s director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Monarez, 50, was named acting director in January and then tapped as the nominee in March after Trump abruptly withdrew his first choice,

The Senate confirmed Susan Monarez as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Monarez was confirmed by a vote of 51-47 along party lines on Tuesday evening. Sens. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) were absent.
