Jury selection is set to begin on Monday in the trial of Sean Grayson, the former Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy who was charged with first-degree murder in connection to the July 6, 2024, fatal shooting of Sonya Massey.

Grayson's actions were "contrary" to policies, Dekmar added. While Dekmar said Massey didn't pose "an immediate a threat" to the deputies, Wykoff, in cross-examination, raised the issue of Dep. Dawson Farley's first field report that claimed he was trying to evade the steaming liquid from the pot Massey was holding.

In court today, the jury and audience witnessed the unedited body camera footage of Sean Grayson shooting and killing Sonya Massey.
