Francisco Lindor ran around the bases at Oracle Park with his right arm raised high after a third-inning home run. He celebrated the same way again when he doubled in the ninth as the Bay Area mist swirled just above.

The 31-year-old went 3-for-5 at the plate on Friday against the Giants, including slugging his 20th home run of the season, which helped propel the Mets to their fifth straight victory, 8-1. It was also Lindor's first long ball since July 11 against the Kansas City Royals.

The New York Mets went all out for their former captain in David Wright and retired his No. 5 at Citi Field during a ceremony on July 19. That's not all the team pulled off. Shortstop Francisco Lindor was named only the fifth captain in Mets history as well and he is the first captain of the team since Wright last held that honor in 2018.
