Shane van Gisbergen is on the pole for the Viva Mexico 250 NASCAR Cup Series race on June 15 at Mexico City. SVG's lap of 1 minute, 32.776 seconds was just ahead of Ryan Preece, and was locked in as the pole-winning lap when rain ended the session with 17 minutes left.

He will be joined on the front row by RFK Racing's Ryan Preece, who denied Trackhouse a front row lockout. He ended the session 0.064s adrift of SVG's pole time. Preece hasn’t yet won a race in the Cup Series.
