Delhi Police issued over 4,500 challans, including 558 for drunk driving on New Year's Eve which was 34 per cent higher than the previous year, officials said on Wednesday. Special Commissioner of Police (traffic) Ajay Choudhary said that no fatal accident took place during the New Year's celebration this year.

The Delhi Police has made announcements regarding intensive security arrangements for New Year's Eve. Aroun 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order and regulations in multiple districts of the city will be tightened to ensure minimal commuting and safety issues.

Ahead of the New Year celebrations, Delhi Police enhanced security measures in the New Delhi district. Special vehicles equipped with CCTV cameras and other facilities have been deployed for surveillance and patrolling.
