The Chicago area is going to get quite a taste of winter this week, with multiple chances for snow and some frigid wind chills in coming days.
After a sunny 60-degree day, Chicago is expected to hit a record near 70 Monday before a strong spring storm brings a risk of severe weather Tuesday, followed by cooler temperatures and a slight chance of wet snow midweek.
Winter in Chicago recorded far less snow than normal, and temperatures for the season were close to normal despite January’s deep freeze.
The snow and cold in the Midwest comes amid blizzard and winter storm warnings for parts of the east coast, with as much as two feet of snow possible across areas in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
Weather can affect the economy in small bursts, but a changing climate could have greater implications in the long term.
