President Donald Trump has approved major disaster declarations for Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe

Alaska Airlines late Thursday announced it was "actively restoring operations" after issuing a ground stoppage due to an IT outage.

Alaska Air Group Inc. executives planned to use its earnings update to showcase the carrier’s plans to cash in on rebounding travel demand, and a return to stability after an IT outage disrupted travel early in the summer.

Alaska Airlines already tried to shore up its IT infrastructure after an outage in July forced the Seattle-based company to ground flights across the country.

Alaska Airlines is expanding from its West Coast hubs, especially in San Diego and Portland. And, the carrier announced new service to Tulsa and Eureka, California.

The U.S. Department of the Interior unveiled a sweeping set of initiatives aimed at expanding energy development, modernizing land and resource management, and improving public health and safety across Alaska.
