A reporter asked Duffy on Monday why the first Trump administration chose not to address the air traffic control system during his first term in office, noting that Duffy said it was a “decades-old” problem. However, Duffy’s answer left many users on social media scratching their heads.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy will call for tens of billions of dollars to overhaul America’s air-traffic control system to address crumbling infrastructure, dramatic staffing shortfalls and failing technology.

According to the FAA, all prospective air traffic controllers "must have the capacity to perform the essential functions of these positions without risk to themselves or others. Candidates must be physically and mentally fit and meet standards for vision, hearing, cardiovascular, neurological and psychiatric health."
