Powerball ticket worth $150,000 sold at Northern Virginia gas station, jackpot rises to $1 billion
A ticket sold at a Wegmans in Fairfax County’s McLean area won $150,000 in Wednesday evening’s Powerball drawing, as the jackpot grows to $1 billion.
In a stack of more than 81,000 winning Powerball tickets across Virginia, one ticket in Fairfax County struck gold, winning $1 million. The Virginia Lottery announced on Sunday that the million-dollar ticket was purchased at the Express Food Mart on Backlick Road in Annandale.
The Powerball jackpot sits at $1.25 billion, an estimated cash value of $572.1 million. That marks the sixth largest jackpot in the game’s history, and it is just the second time where the game has seen back-to-back jackpots over a billion dollars. The drawing will be at 10:59 p.m.
