NEW DELHI – India has rejected claims made by President Donald Trump of having a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trump on October 16 had claimed that, during a telephonic conversation, Modi had “assured” him that India won’t be buying oil from Russia.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a conversation with Donald Trump, during which the parties discussed Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy and the possibility of strengthening the air defense system. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the head of Ukraine.
During the phone call, Vladimir Putin thanked President Rahmon for his hospitality and the warm welcome during the President of Russia's state visit to Tajikistan. The Russian leader also took note of how well organised both recent events in Dushanbe were, including the second Russia–Central Asia summit and the CIS Heads of State Council meeting.
India's foreign ministry said on Thursday that it was not aware of any telephone conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday. Trump said on Wednesday that Modi "assured me today" that India will not be buying oil from Russia.
