Animal rights groups forged a deal to rescue 1,500 beagles from a troubled Wisconsin research facility after chaotic protests led to the arrest of several activists last month — though the fate of hundreds of pooches left behind remains unclear.
Last month, animal rights activists tried to steal some of the dogs from the Wisconsin facility, Ridglan Farms, but were thwarted by tear gas and rubber bullets.
Stencil said many of the dogs had never worn a collar and were identified only by numbers tattooed into their ears and groin areas.
