When former President Jimmy Carter entered hospice nearly 23 months ago, Habitat for Humanity International contacted every chapter — the Greater Salt Lake area chapter included — and asked them to build ceremonial walls to honor their most famous volunteer upon his death.

Philadelphia and Habitat for Humanity paid tribute to President Jimmy Carter Thursday as the nation said its final goodbyes.

The Carters became involved with Habitat for Humanity in the early 1980s. You can soon go to the different restore locations in Colorado Springs and write messages of condolence and remembrance on a door for the late president.
