Nikolaj Ehlers could choose his destination on the second day of NHL free agency after becoming one of the rare top players available not to sign in the first six hours or so.

NHL free agency has arrived, and that means teams around the league will be looking to make upgrades to their rosters for the 2025-26 season. Many teams have already taken care of business before July 1 by re-signing key players to extensions.

The wait is over - the Carolina Hurricanes signed one of the best free agents availabe in 29-year-old Nikolaj Ehlers to a six-year, $8.5 million deal through the 2030-31 season general manager Eric Tulsky said in a statement.
