Japanese seismologists are urging people -- mainly in northern Japan -- to remain vigilant for more quakes and tsunami a week after a magnitude-7.5 temblor struck off the eastern coast of Aomori Prefecture.

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck Sonoma County on Sunday afternoon, causing light shaking in Santa Rosa and setting off alerts as far south as San Francisco.

The quake, which occurred off the coast of Aomori prefecture, followed a 7.5-magnitude earthquake this week that injured at least 34 people.

Japan has warned of the possibility of a mega-quake.
