The Boston Bruins made several moves during this past summer. Yet, their biggest off-season move was re-signing forward Morgan Geekie to a six-year, $33 million contract.

Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak made a bold claim regarding Morgan Geekie's ceiling after the team's 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.

The Boston Bruins took care of business on home ice. They defeated the Buffalo Sabres for the second time this season in overtime to win 4-3. This was a game where the Bruins got outplayed, but they’ve managed to secure the two points.

Geekie’s tally proved critical. The Avalanche scored a late goal with their goalie pulled, but the Bruins held on for a 3-2 victory, ending their six-game losing streak, while dealing Colorado its first regular-season loss.

Saturday’s victory over the Avalanche was not a turning point. But it could be a first step out of the darkness.

Thanks to a goal from Morgan Geekie on their first shot of the night, the Bruins started Monday's showdown with the Senators as well as they could have. They also ended it as poorly as they could have, though, as the Bruins surrendered seven straight goals on the way to an ugly, 7-2 blowout loss in Ottawa.
