CHARLOTTE, N.C. — UTSA quarterback Owen McCown acknowledged July 25 that he received messages with elements of Memphis' playbook prior to the game between the two teams in 2024. At American Conference media days, coaches from both teams downplayed the impact of the messages.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — UTSA coach Jeff Traylor said his quarterback receiving leaked playbook information from a former Memphis player “had no bearing whatsoever” on the outcome of the teams’ game last year.

It has been alleged former Memphis safety Tahj Ra-El sent defensive plays to UTSA ahead of the teams’ 44-36 loss to the Roadrunners in November. Now, TigerSportsReport is reporting alleged direct messages between Ra-El and UTSA quarterback Owen McCown have been obtained.
