Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey, confirmed the long-rumored closure of two of its roller coasters, including the iconic Kingda Ka. Kingda Ka was ranked as the world's "tallest and fastest coaster" and has delivered more than 12 million rides since 2005,

The park has not filed at notice with the state that the ride is shutting down, Lisa Ryan, a spokesperson for the state Department of Community Affairs, told NJ Advance Media. Theme parks are not required to submit notice of closure, they would just let the permit lapse if not opening the ride for the next season, she said.

After nearly two decades, Six Flags retires iconic Kingda Ka coaster to introduce new attractions in the coming years.

Officials also revealed that a multiworld-record-breaking launch roller coaster will debut at the Jackson theme park in 2026.
