ESPN's Scott Van Pelt shared his thoughts about the way Kevin Willard left Maryland for Villanova. He didn't hold back.

Scott Van Pelt is a proud Maryland graduate. So as you can imagine, he watched the recent Kevin Willard saga closely. Willard wound up leaving a lot of confusing breadcrumbs before leaving the Terrapins' basketball program to take the head coach job at Villanoa.

One well-known Maryland alumnus said he understood why now-former men's basketball coach Kevin Willard left the program but still slammed the way he exited College Park.

New Villanova coach Kevin Willard said he's aware of the criticism he has received since leaving Maryland but said, "I just think it's time that everyone moved on."

But yes, Willard confessed, he was generally aware of the consensus sentiment that he used Maryland as just a pawn to get whatever it was he wanted at a traditional power such as Villanova. So perhaps Willard knew Maryland alumnus and ESPN star Scott Van Pelt went scorched earth on him and said,
