It continued raining in Chennai the entire night. Adyar, Meenambakkam, and Nandanam received 6 cm overnight. Wednesday was expected to be isolated heavy rainfall in a few places with conditions likely to ease out on Thursday. In view of this precautionary measure, schools were shut down in Perambalur, Ariyalur and Cuddalore districts.

Chennai is expected to experience heavy rainfall on November 13, prompting the IMD to issue an alert for the city and eleven surrounding districts. As a precaution, Tuesday has been declared a school holiday in Chennai.

The IMD has warned that besides Chennai, districts including Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, and Madurai are expected to see heavy rain throughout the day.

Chennai is expected to have a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature likely ranging between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius.

The state’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin confirmed, “We have increased the number of motor pumps and deployed additional volunteers based on rain patterns observed in October. The Tamil Nadu government is fully prepared for the rains.

Chennai and nearby districts are set to receive heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. IMD has issued yellow alerts as rain is expected to intensify across Tamil Nadu through November 15.
