A dangerous heat wave continues across a large part of the United States, with more than 130 million people under extreme heat watches and warnings from South Dakota to Florida.

A dangerous heat wave is set to grip Staten Island beginning Monday morning, with the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for Richmond County through Wednesday evening. Temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-90s,

East Central Florida, including Orlando, faces extreme heat with advisories issued and temperatures nearing 100 degrees. Heat indices may reach 108-112 degrees.

The weather service said several major metropolitan areas in the Southeast were expected to face an extreme heat risk for several days.
