The sports world is gathering Wednesday night to celebrate the best of the last year with the 2025 ESPY Awards. Some of the biggest names from the court, field, diamond, pool and more are coming together in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theater to hand out trophies and recognize the iconic moments in sports.

Skubal is one of four MLB players nominated in the " Best MLB Player " category at the 2025 ESPY Awards, ESPN's annual awards show. First baseman Freddie Freeman and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and outfielder Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees join Skubal as nominees.

The 2025 ESPY Awards will be hosted by comedian Shane Gillis at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Trophies will be handed out for best male and female athlete, best championship performance and more.

Josh Allen is up for a pair of ESPY awards at ESPN’s annual red carpet awards show. The Bills quarterback was nominated for best male athlete, joining Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the ballot.

No one other than Jackson has hosted the ESPY Awards more than twice, but three other individuals have hosted the ESPYs multiple times. Seth Meyers (2010, 2011), Jamie Foxx (2003, 2004) and Dennis Miller (1993, 1994) each hosted the ESPYs twice, with Miller hosting the first two shows.

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg earned two nominations. He’s up for Best College Athlete in Men’s Sports, alongside Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, and Best Breakthrough Athlete, recognizing his standout season at Duke. The ESPYS, hosted by comedian Shane Gillis, will air at 7 p.m. Wednesday on WFAA (ABC).
