Hicks, who was acquired by the Red Sox in the June 2025 trade that sent Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, had a $12 million CBT hit over the next two years. Now that he’s off the Red Sox’ books, he will only cost them $4 million in each of the next two seasons.
