Kansas basketball turned a tight first half into a commanding victory Sunday night, defeating Arizona State 74-55 at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks, trailing at halftime, overwhelmed the Sun Devils with a stifling defense and sharp execution on offense to secure their second straight win.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Zeke Mayo scored 23 points and No. 11 Kansas held Arizona State to 13 in the second half of a 74-55 victory Wednesday night.

The Jayhawks’ defense was lacking in the first half, allowing Arizona State to shoot 46.7% from the field. The Sun Devils’ 42 points in the first half was the most a team has scored against KU this season. Jayhawks coach Bill Self must have delivered one heck of a halftime speech, because KU’s defense was phenomenal in the second half.

After a brutal loss the last time in Allen Fieldhouse, the Kansas Jayhawks return home to snow-packed Lawrence with the confidence of coming off the largest Big 12 road victory in program history. Now KU needs it to carry over against Arizona State on Wednesday. Line: KU -14.5
