We decided to take the plunge and sat out in the square for a drink. We had a glass if wine, a cola and a non alcoholic cocktail. The cocktail, although possibly a bit more than some places (18e), wa…Full review by Mick B

A beautiful iconic site of Venice. During our visit, Carnavale was in full swing. The square was vibrant with costumes and music. We ventured out early in the morning to take in the beauty of the sq…Full review by 35marciac

On one level, Piazza San Marco is overrated with its crowds and overpriced restaurants. But, on another level, nothing exudes more Venetian atmosphere than a walk through the square with a sunset col…Full review by Gareth C

Hi The info we have is that we ate at Piccolo Martini which is off the square on the Museo corner part of the Plaza. It was ok nothing wrong but not stand out. Our friends ate at Ristorante Centrale up off the Plaza near the basilica. They heartily recommended there. We didn't have time to try it as we were only in Venice a few days. Cheers Ronald
I heard that musicians play in the square at night. Does that always happen, or only on some nights? How can I find out more?

We were treated to the most incredible cello music one afternoon, the man was so good he almost moved me to tears. There are a lot of buskers around Venice and they seem to be top notch. I've only ever known of organised music in the square very occasionally in the evening and it does get very quiet once the basilica and palace close. Venice has a tourist office but it is the kind of place you want to just wander and see what you find.
Hi there, I am staying in St Marks square for New Years 2019. Do I need to buy tickets at all for the Square or is it open to the public? Can anyone recommend places to eat after the fireworks?
A:
Free. But don't eat there as it is very expensive. We were there last week and one place had a cup of coffee for 13 euros
I’m taking my grad daughter there fir only one day as we return from a cruise. We leave Marco Polo airport at 6:00 AM so I need to know how long it takes to get from hotel to airport and a Goodman to get there.
A:
We travels from the airport to our hotel on the grand canal and it took 55 minutes . Our hotel was a 15mins walk from saint Marco square. We were central to saint Marco. Hope this helps.
