Beautiful bell tower adjacent to the Duomo in Florence. Designed by Florentine artist Giotto and completed in 1359. I purchased the Brunelleschi Pass that allows access to all the monuments at the Pi…Full review by TravelingSoccerLoon

Amazing views from the top. I took the first slot at 0815 but that meant that a lot of Florence was in shadow so go when the sun is higher. The advantage of going early is that you don’t have to comp…Full review by Geoff A

Campanile di Giotto was constructed in the 14th century. The person responsible for its building was the artist Giotto whose name the tower bears. It's a beautiful building and the views from the top…Full review by Dimitris L
Hi everyone. I'm heading the tower next week. I have read so many but would really like someone to please confirm if I can't bring my daypack along for the climb? I always bring daypack for travel. This is not the backpackers's bag but day pack. About 22L. Can someone who has climbed there recently if it's allowed? Much appreciated.

I did not climb the tower on this trip so I can’t answer this with any certainty. But there is good security in the Duomo area and components, day packs are fairly common and you can probably get waved through with a check. Worst case is if a pre check Suggests it’s a problem, check it at a restaurant or shop. It’s not so busy now and we found people very accommodating. We had the advantage of a flat three doors from the Duomo which helped. Have a great trip.
Hi GMBaker8, Thanks for your review. I am trying to decide which tower to climb. I was tempted by the Campanile for the views of the Duomo, but I have seen the mesh wire you mention in pictures. Is the wire everywhere at the top or are there area where you actually can look at the Duomo without restriction ? Thanks, AE

yes there is a wiry mesh but you can take pictures without a wiry mesh. Moreover the view of the dome is incredible and since you dont get to see the dome from anywhere else, I would …
yes there is a wiry mesh but you can take pictures without a wiry mesh. Moreover the view of the dome is incredible and since you dont get to see the dome from anywhere else, I would say climb both, first the bell tower and then the dome. You can also do it on two different days as the ticket is valid for 48 hours.
What is the website to book the tickets for the bell tower, please?

Try the Florence-museum website, i think we bought a combined ticket that covered the Duomo, Baptistry, the Bell Tower and a museum. Think it was about euro 18 per person. but you have to book a time to climb the Dome, we didn't book a time for the Bell Tower we just went one afternoon and there was no queue, you can book a time though if you are limited to your days there.
How long should I spend at the Bell Tower? We need to travel to Pisa later so I had to figure out what time to leave..

There rarely is much of a line for the campanile (you'll find the line at the Duomo, instead), so most of your time will be spent ascending and descending the stairs and admiring the views. I'd allow about 45 minutes to an hour for it.
